School of Rock the movie

the plot of the movie is about A wannabe rock star in need of cash poses as a substitute teacher at a prep school, and tries to turn his class into a rock band. It also has every one favorite actor JACK BLACK. so watch the Movie and if you don't, I COME over and the drag you to watch it and it might be BLOODY. so Watch The MOVIE!!!

School of Rock (Double Blog Credit)

When Jack Black first crashed his way on the silver screen in the blockbuster hit, “School of Rock” I was initially surprised by the movie. Some may not know this but, all of the children in the movie that play instruments actually play them in real life. They performed all of their music for the film and soundtrack; to have such skill at a young age is truly awe-inspiring. Through my first viewing I found the movie very painful to watch, knowing fully well that eventually the school was going to find out that he wasn’t a teacher. However, I applaud the movies extent of rock and roll trivia. I feel that Jack Black had to play a subdued version of his usual characters, and it really drew back a lot of his potential. Another fun note, Miranda Cosgrove got her career jumpstart from this film signing on with Nickelodeon for Drake & Josh and later taking the main role for iCarly. I did find it a shame that almost all of those skilled kid musicians were unable to hit it big from that movie. “School of Rock” was quite a fun ride. Its subtle humors as well as, its jokes hit close to home.  Jack Black was entertaining, but still lacked that special flair he’s known for. All in all, I give School of Rock a 7/10.

School of Rock

Jack is a crazy guitar player that believes in the power of rock and roll! So he is in a competition of rock bands, but his band kicked him out of the group. He now is without a job and needs to pay the rent. One day he receives a call and enrolls as a teacher for a short time. He plans to fake he is a licensed teacher and work to pay his debts. The first day of school all students were at recess since Jack does not know how to teach. On the second day, he saw his students to playing, so he decided to make a team to compete in the battle of rock bands. He only wants to get the money that will be given to the winner, so he tries to win it.  He and the band are decided to win the competence. They played a song called Teacher’s Pet in front of all kids’ parents and others. They didn’t won the competition. At the end, the audience called the team for them to play again. There is when they played a song from the band AC/DC called It’s a long Way to the Top.
The movie was released on 2004. It is one that I really like it by its comedy.

Too cool to school

School of Rock just screams Jack Black. I'm certain whatever director hires Jack Black to act in his film, he knows that the writer will have to make room for Jack's improvisation. Personally, he is one of my favorite actors. Sure he is over the top and he can be a bit crude, but its his energy and devotion that puts him at the top of my list. That and I truly enjoy the music the envelopes much of his films, from Tenacious D to School of Rock.
I love the lesson that School of Rock teaches, and I agree that there should be a greater push for arts in our education system. I understand the need for core curriculum, but the weight of these topics compared to others is far out of balance. Sometimes for the sake of greater good we need to bend the rules a bit. After it is those who think outside of the box that progress our kind forward. Then again isn't that the contribution of all creativity in our culture?
This is perfectly embodied by this film. Taking a group of talented individuals with the direction of a deviant, magnificent production comes to fruition. Through a bit of wiggling through the system and pulling a few strings Jack Black gets to just a position to do this, but near the end it begins to fall down upon him. The fear of the parents, and the structure of the school comes to bring judgement upon the class. At the last moment, the parents come to see their children perform that which they have been working on for so long, and they leave the audience amazed.
It is sad that we are often scared to take a chance and put ourselves out there, when it can result in awesomeness.

School of Rock

Forget all that touchy-feely crap about getting in touch with your wounded inner child. This movie brings a different approach on self realization through its comedic nature.
It imagines that deep in the soul of every child, parent and even the lamest school principal a suppressed rock and roll maniac is clamoring for release. Or as this movie's resident rock expert announces to a group of shy fifth graders, rock and roll is about ''sticking it to the man." The movie also tells you to pursue your passions and follow your dreams, not matter what anyone else tells you.
This movie was definitely the best of the music movies shown at signs and wonders, at least that I saw.

School of Rock

School of Rock!!! Jack Black makes this film. His attitude and the way that he presents himself on camera for this film is absolute dynamite. He brings an insane amount of energy into the film.  I really like how this film is fairly realistic other than the fact that he stays a substitute that long without anyone telling somebody. But for the fact that someone would do that because they are short on money is very realistic, if people would kill someone for money, I’m sure they would lead a classroom of students to become battle of the bands champions. Which they do… Spoilers. Okay so maybe this film isn't all that realistic considering that Dewey teaches these young kids rock music and they not tell their parents. I mean, come on. Kids at that age tell their parents everything. Anyways, this film is completely hilarious!! Just the fact that the kids are usually the ones that make me laugh. Jack Black was implied, he makes everyone laugh. But the asian boy is so funny! When Jack Black teaches Lawrence the “lets rock, lets rock, today”… oh boy, that gets me every time! I actually still say that till this day, along with “You’re tacky and I hate you.” Absolute Gold. I really enjoyed this film and found it extremely humorous.

School of Rock

Well let me start off by saying that I know this is a little late but it has taken me some time to finally become comfortable with this bloggyness for DM101.

I love Jack Black and his wacky humor and everything he brings to the screen although I have not enjoyed some of his movies. This was my first time watching School of Rock and I was very happy that I finally got the chance to do so. I have always enjoyed a good heartfelt and ridiculously themed film which School of Rock fits into very nicely.
The movie is very much an entertaining movie not really meant to challenge the viewer but to pleasure. While the main source of School of Rock’s entertainment is comedy there is also a bit of breaking out of the normal and becoming more independent. The principle of the school is one example as she has been conformed to be very disciplined with the children due to the school’s prestige. Thanks to Dewey (Jack Black) she slowly becomes what she said was her old self as she no longer feels the need to fit in and do what people expect of her.
School of Rock shows how one man can really help many learn to express themselves even when it isn’t the usual thing to do or seen as the right thing to do. I think a small lesson we can grab from this film is that you need to be yourself and shouldn’t let anything stop you from doing just that.

So, School of Rock…it was a Jack Black film. I should probably say now (though it will probably show later) that I don’t really like Jack Black as an actor. His voice acting is ok, but in live action I just do not care for him. Of the movies I have seen him in, I find the character he plays to be highly obnoxious, and without a care of how his actions will affect others if it gets him out of the tight spot he is in…
While I still really didn’t care for Jack black in this movie, I was pleasantly surprised that I actually liked the film. It was definitely not the deepest, and I found it rather predictable plot wise, but the music was good. Really good. I have a tendency to judge a movie based on the music, and because it was a Jack Black film, the music made it for me.

Let us hope I do not get shunned for this blog post….

Read Between the Lines

I really enjoyed re-watching School of Rock. I think it was my first Jack Black film and I loved it so much that I made my dad take me to the theater twice to watch it. After I saw it the first time, I was really interested about the music that was used in the film and started to listen to it. I love how the movie uses music to transition between scenes.

The film poses many good points. "Rock ain't about gettin an A." "One awesome rock show can change the world!" I love how Dewey tells his young students that it's about the music and not selling out just to make money. I think as creatives, that is a really important lesson for all of us. I hope that we can all be just as passionate about film, animation, etc as Dewey is about his music.

Even though School of Rock isn't the 'best movie,' it has a lot of charm that most films lack. I could tell that all the people involved in the project really put their hearts into it. Sometimes that's what's missing from films now.

You're tacky and I hate you.

BEHOLD: RIDING CHAPS FOR YOUR UPPER BODY.
Gee, I'm cold. Let me throw on my leather sleeves.
I am very much annoyed by Spider's clothing, or lack thereof, during the Battle of the Bands in School of Rock. This "shirt" clearly serves no purpose other than to make Spider look douchey.
Not only is it ugly, but it is completely useless. You simply cannot stay comfortably warm with only your arms covered, and your chest/abdomen exposed. And if it is hot, the leather would be extremely uncomfortable and sticky. Range of motion is essential for proper rockage. This can't be good if you are performing in a band, or if you are in an area filled with way too many people with no sense of personal space.

math is cool

Last night seen school of rock. Sometime don't take no for answer. Life push you down yiy either it choose to stay down there or you can get back up again. I love all the parts.the most that I like was when the adults was in the pricable office all at once talking all at once. The pricable could not take the heat.show she walk down staries. Someone said were all my student. She said the are missing. So the pricable went back to the office.  She told all the parents and said guest what your kids are missing. they all rain off to find there kids. I was dispointed when school of rock didn't get the check. I was happy when the audience eas calling the school of rock to come back out.  I can't wait to see the movie this Thursday. I hope to see you guys there.

Class is in session: School of Rock

Well I don't know about the rest of you but I can say without a doubt that I enjoyed School of Rock much more than I thought I would. The little movie that began back the olden days...about 10 years ago in 2003, has become a sort of cult classic among movie goers and I can't say I don't understand why...
The movie centers around a lazy, sloppy, idiotic deadbeat rocker named Dewey Finn(excellently played by Jack Black) who mooches off of his friend and former band mate Ned Schneebly (If I spelled it right))Shna-eb-lay as pronounced by Black in the film). Ned has long since given up rocking and stettled in with his new girlfriend whom Dewey cannot stand (frankly I couldn't either really). One day, right before the battle of the bands, in an act of selfishness Dewey's band kicks him out claming that he ruins their image with his antics.

Dewey intercepts a call for his roommate who happens to be a substitute teacher and decides to steal the gig of teaching at a prestigious elementary school once he hears how much money it pays. At first he slacks off and uses the job to relax and chill out. Once he overhears the kids in his class playing classical music, he gets the plan for the battle of the bands. He teaches the kids to play new rockin instruments and the school of rock is born.

I think its cool that even though Dewey isn't a certified teacher by any means, we still get to see how he teaches the kids different life lessons and encourages them along the way. He helps a troubled boy named Freddie learn about avoiding bad influences; He helps a girl named Tamika overcome her fears and gain self confidence for her amazing singing voice. These are just a couple of the kids in the school of rock who get taught a thing or two and we see the rest of the lessons unfold in a very excellent climactic rock battle. I think this is an awesome family movie or a comedy or whatever you want to watch it for, its great fun for everybody all around.

Recently this year, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the film, Jack black and the rest of the class of the school of rock returned to the public eye for a special screening. They played their song "teacher's pet" and highly entertained the masses with their skills. As you can probably see from this picture courtesy of Miranda Cosgrove's Instagram, the class has grown up and learned a thing or two...but to the adoring public they'll always be those rock-starved 5th graders we all know and love...or appreciate if you're not into that type of thing :)

If school were like this...

Last night I went to Signs and Wonders where the movie School of Rock was played.  I had never seen it before and it was AWESOME!  I can’t really say if I am a good judge on whether a movie is considered good or not.  I enjoy watching movies that entertain me, whether with intrigue, action/adventure, or just plain comedy.  However, at the end of the movie Professor Leeper proposed a question to the audience: “what make this a good music movie?”  Some people said it was the passion shown for the music, others that it conveyed reason (“stick it to the man” HAHA).  I think that there were many reasons that this is a good music movie.  First, even though some would consider this a minor point, I think the music played, the quality and catchiness, helped in making this a music movie.  Passion played a role in this, yes, because without it there would be no drive behind the feelings that the actors are trying to convey.
However, I think what makes it a good music movie is that we, as an audience, are able to see the work and feelings that go into making music mean something to the listeners.  It shows the practice and the study of past artists so that the next generation can create something new.  The movie allowed others, who were not musically talented to appreciate and understand the music in a way.
Look at this face. You can't help but want to know what is it that makes him so passionate about the music

Rock Got No Reason, Rock Got No Rhyme

Last night I got to watch "School Of Rock" in the MCA along with many DMA and non-DMA students. I had been sick over the weekend and I really wanted some entertainment to lift my spirits. Each time I see School Of Rock, I enjoy it.
I think it is great that School Of Rock has Rock music as it's theme and the kids have done an outstanding job in the movie. But in my opinion, it's all about Dewey. He keeps going through this phase of selfishness and fulfilling his own desire of making a band and "sticking it" to his former band, but at the same time keeps encouraging these 5th graders who play great music but have never been exposed to rock and helps them discover who they are. He encourages them in their talents and believes in them, something probably no teacher had done before him.
I think Dewey's character is very interesting. Even though he is the protagonist, he is not the "good guy". He is the guy who has been through some hard times, faced rejection from his band and his friends that he lives with. He doesn't have a job and has to pay the rent that he owes to his friend. But he never gives up on his dream to Rock. He lies to the school and the children in class about his identity and tries to make things work in the wrong way. But as they say, some people learn the hard way. However, he realises his mistakes and apologizes everyone, and in the end gets to have a band he always wanted, with a stylist, security and a manager! Now that's a talented class!
School Of Rock is a great comedy, packed with Jack Black's trademark funny faces, dialogues and his hilarious guitar solos!

School of Rock

First of all I was unable to make it to see School of Rock at the MCA so I guess I will not be getting extra credit but I have seen this movie. I like what Kyle Murray said at the end of his blog, "a balance must be struck between work and play to have a full life," and I believe that's the main lesson in this story. In left there seems to be a division between work and play, succeeding monetarily or psychologically, working for the sole purpose of making money in order to function in society or playing by doing what you love in life. Jack Black played by doing that which he loved which is to Rock, his friend and roommate also love to Rock but gave it up to work to make ends meet and function in society. Jack Black didn't want to give up his love in life but felt he had to or he would get kicked out of his apartment. At the end he figured out how to merge the two by making his love in live his main source of income (making work his play time) which is how I believe adults play in life.

Stick it to the Man! (Or woman…I mean come on, it’s 2013)

School of Rooooooooooooock! Truly Jack Black’s finest role (in my humble opinion). This movie was a lot of fun to watch with people, because it’s just a goofy movie where you can kick back and enjoy. Jack Black is all like “Bwananananakatchawchaboom” and we’re all like “Oh silly Jack.”
Despite the silliness, I still found some good themes to take away from watching this movie. It tells you to pursue your passions no matter what anyone else says, it teaches you that you can do things your own way, but most importantly, it teaches you to STICK IT TO THE MAN!!! And you know what? I will stick it to the man! PROFESSOR LEEPER, YOU’RE THE MAN AND I’M STICKING IT TO YOU!
Who are you to say we have to “Watch media and blog about it”?! Who are you to say that we have to sit in your class for an hour and a half two times a week?! Who are you to bum us all out by showing us depressing media? You’re holding us down, man, and I’ve had enough of it! I’m going to stick it to you! I’m gonna grab my guitar and write a face melting ballad that will blow you into oblivion!!!

Oh wait, come to think of it I’ve actually enjoyed this class a lot and need it to get my degree in animation so I can pursue my passion…

Well Leeper, you get off this time. But once I graduate, I’M GOING TO STICK IT TO YOU! Oh, back to talking about School of Rock…

It was a lot of fun to watch this movie with everyone, because you can nudge each other when there are references that you get, you can turn to your friends and laugh at the ridiculousness and borderline stupidity that Jack performs on screen and you can pledge your allegiance to the band out loud with everyone else. Definitely a delight to see.
