So I watched my first movie since I stopped doing the blogs and it hit me. The reason we did them in class was so that we would want to share what we like and think of media. Why should we stop right when we started to get the hang of it? If I remember correctly The Leepster wanted us to continue after the class, so I will abligue (spelling is not my strength).
Anyway, I just got to watch for the second time in my life one of my favorite movies...Summer Wars. It is a charming animated movie I found by accident at the library many years ago and I have been trying to find it online lately, but due to certain computer restraints I have'haven't been able to. I will put the link to it at the bottom. Anyway, the movie does a great job of changing the situation n you over and over again. One second you all like WOOT then the next your all like NO WAY! Another great thing about this movie is the animati
on. They have SO many things moving in just the the simplest of parts. I can only imagine how many man hours it took to make this movie.
Over all this movie is a classic to me and I highly suggest you watch it because it has something for everyone, plus half way through it brings in an element that makes you think about our world today. I don't want to give away anything so just WATCH IT!!! Hope you all continue to blog and have a Merry Christmas :D
So I watched a youtube video today that was really cool! The
CGI was top notch. The video was funny. And the footage was taken well. But
what got me was something else. This video was talking about how food was
everywhere in video games and how in their world food is something special. Now
this got me thinking. What other normal things have been made special through
books, movies, or video games?
Well there is the ring in the Lord of the Rings. It makes
everyone joke about their ring being the one ring. There is also the idea of
turtles after playing Mario. Any turtle could be thrown at high velocity and
kill hundreds of other turtles, or just help you get infinite lives :D There is
also the idea of glass slippers. I am sure at least once in every girl’s life
they wished that they could have these slippers to have a handsome prince find
her and take her away.
What I am trying to say is that with these types of
storytelling we can make anything do anything. What will be the next object to
have magic powers? A nose ring that lets you breath fire? How about a giraffe
that can talk and walk like a human? Anything is possible and it is up to us to
decide. Have fun inventing the next great magic object.
Now if you are a gamer, you probably know a little as to how
a game is made. It starts in a person’s mind. Then it grows until they have an
Alpha of the game. Alphas are nothing near the final product. It is more of a
trial of the concept. Then after the Alpha comes the Beta. The Beta is when
they bring in people to try the game at that point, and see what they think of
the game at that point. This entire time they are editing and tweaking small
bugs. Making it into a somewhat presentable product. At certain gaming events,
like E3, the produces show off their Betas. This is in hopes to get consumers
interested. This is a way for the producers to hear what the consumer thinks of
the product. Many times, a games aren’t taken well by the consumer. This may
result in the game being scrapped entirely, or postponed. On occasion, a game
may be taken so well that the game may be pushed back out due to the quality in
the preview not being consistent throughout the game.
I love how game previews of a game and their Betas are great,
but not all `Betas have followed the pattern. One such example is The Legend of
Zelda the Wind Waker. At Space World 2000, Nintendo showed a tech demo of the
next game in the series at that time. The graphics and the fight itself made
people mesmerized. That is until the next year when Nintendo showed some beta
footage of what would become Wind Waker. The masses cried out in anger, wanting
more of the previous year’s gameplay. They handed higher graphics, not a
downgrade in quality.
When Wind Waker finally came out, the feelings were still the
same. People thought it was too kid looking. But after a couple years, people
started to see the simplistic beauty in the cel-shading theme. The many
advantages to a simpler look. The game flowed better, the world was enormous,
and the character could show some great emotions. I think that this proves that
the art style doesn’t need to get better. Sometimes it’s better to step back and
ask if it is really worth all the hard work of higher graphics. For me
personally, Wind Waker is one of my favorites in the series, plus the art style
has really grown on me. Keep your mind open to the possibilities.
So with the
end of the semester coming up I think it is time to say what my dream is, and
why I want to get into animation. Well I can’t say that it is all figured out,
but I can say that I have a giant passion for this area of animation. Enough
beating around the bush, whatever that means. My dream for quite some time has
been to do battle animations. Not just the explosions or effects that
are behind the battle. No, I want to do the actual animation of the character
models as well as help in the storyboarding of the fights themselves. This is
ironic because I have never punched a person in my life. The way that the
extreme animated battles can push the boundaries of what are thought possible
is just…it’s impossible to describe how I think of the concept.
Lately I
have been a lot of Rooster Teeth products. Specifically, I have been watching RWBY
and Red vs. Blue. I literally get chills watching these videos. If you get the opportunity,
I highly suggest you watch RWBY if you have the time. Its animated movements
are great! I think my obsession with animes such as Dragon Ball Z and games like
Dynasty Warriors, have crafted me into the person I am today. This has not only
affected what things I like to watch, but it has also changed what type of
music I like. I have learned that I have a passion for making battles in my
mind while listening music. Sadly, lyrics sometimes take away from these
thoughts. In order to keep the thoughts coming a song must flow and have a
pattern. As a result I love techno and hate rap. I won’t go into detail, but I
will say that my other musical taste doesn’t connect with other people.
With this
blog all I wanted to do was explain where my passions are and why. I hope that
someday I can have a hand in this field, but if I don’t I will live. It is not
a crucial part of my life. What is more important is that God uses me in my
life.
Last week I had the privilege to see Sean and Sam both
perform in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It is a musical performance that
was shown at the MCA. The story is about the struggle of boys becoming men as
well as the idea of letting love grow before marriage. I had personally not
seen it before, so the story was very fun to see unravel.
Sean and Sam were 2 of the 7 brothers. The humor they brought
to the play was very evident. Sean jumping over an ax just to show up another
guy. Sam being the brother that didn’t want to learn how to be a man that
women would respect. All great acting among the cast. The music was my favorite
part though. I know two of the people who were in the pit playing instruments.
The two main singers of the show were great as well. Stage presence is not easy
when you have that many people watching every move you make.
I would like to congratulate Sean and Sam on their success in
the show. I hope to see them continue to bless us with their great
performances. I do understand that it is very time consuming. That is what kept
me from being in the play. I still wish I had done it, but no way to go back
now. Maybe next year?
Two weeks ago I was bored out of
my mind. I had homework to do, but it was one of those days that I just
couldn’t do it if it no matter how hard I tried. So what do I do? I go to the
library and get WallE of course! I had seen it before, but it was good to see
it again. It is a heartwarming story of two robots trying to save the Earth
from its demise.
I think that this movie really
shows the idea of selflessness. The robots didn’t have any need to help the
humans. If they wanted to they could have taken the spaceship and just done
what they wanted, but they didn’t because they respected those who built them.
Think about it, how much time did WallE and Eve spend in their lives fixing the
problems of the humans. I would have to guess A LOT. Now, how much of our time
do we spend serving our creator? BOOM Christian lesson XP.
I don’t know why but there is one
part in the movie that really got me. The part where WallE is dyeing and Eve
was trying to save him by replacing hit parts. I don’t know if it was that I
had forgotten about this part, or the fact that the way they made it, but I was
actually almost to the point of man tears. Yes, there is a difference. The way
that Eve is trying with all her might to save the one she loves, it was just
touching.
So my sister had Toy Story 3 when she graduated high school
and went to college. But for me I had Monsters University. I was a huge fan of
the first move, like you would not believe. It is because of that movie that I
became interested with animation. Anyway, I feel find of jealous with my
sister. I think she got the better deal. I was so excited for this movie and I
was a little disappointed. Not hugely, but just enough for me to feel a little
cheated.
This movie was supposed to be about the college life, but it
very quickly loses that idea of college life after about ½ the movie. It makes
me sad. There was so much potential, but they focused so much on the story and
trying to make it intriguing that they forgot to make it focused toward those
who had grown up with the original. Another movie who made this mistake was
Wreck It Ralph. I can’t tell you how excited I was for this move. A whole movie
about video games!!! Not so much… It once again just satisfied the quota and
stopped with the video game references after half the movie. Still love it, but
it had so much more to give.
Over all, Monsters University was a movie that every fan of
the original should watch. Just don’t get your hopes up too high like I did.
This will only make you sad and see only the flaws of the movie. I think that
goes with any movie. Don’t go to it thinking that it will be the best movie of
all time; no movie is perfect.
Have you
ever seen a movie that pulls you in through the previews and when you go and
watch the movie, it rips your heart out? This is what happened to me last night
when I watched Now You See Me. The basic premise of the movie is that these 4
magicians come together to pull off some huge magic tricks that are
questionable in the eyes of the police. The whole time the police are trying to
figure out how they did the trick and how they can prove that the magicians are
breaking the law. The first trick the magicians do has to do with them stealing
3.1 million euros from a bank in France while they are in LA. Seems impossible right!? That’s what I
thought when I saw the preview… How wrong I was.
After about 1/3 of the movie,
things plummet in quality. The movie is flooded with assumptions. Half the
tricks that are crucial to story are not explained. When I watch a robbery
movie, or a break out of jail movie, I want to know how they did it. Thanks to
CG the limits of what are possible are unlimited, thus the director of the
movie thought that the visuals of something cool would be enough, when in
reality it isn’t. They should not have mixed robbery and magic. These two
different types of movies require different things. Magic being assumptions
while robbery requires logic and elementary thinking.
One of the
main plot points in movie makes the audience have to believe in actual magic.
IN A MOVIE ABOUT MAGIC TRICKS!!! This really bugs me. How are we supposed to
determine what was a trick and what is just “magic?” Over all, a big disappoint
of a movie. I would suggest everyone stay away from this movie. It will be a
waste of your time.
Yesterday I had the great opportunity to watch Catching Fire.
I had saved watching this movie because 1. I am a poor college student and 2. I
wanted to watch it with my sister. Anyway, Catching Fire was my favorite book
in the Hunger Games series so my expectations were high. I can honestly say
that they hit the movie just as I had hoped, unlike the first movie that is.
To start off, the movie did a great job of staying true to
the book. The atmosphere was perfect for what was going on. The idea of total despair for Petta ad
Katniss was clearly seen. Not only despair but the idea of being trapped for
the rest of their lives was shown very well. I loved how well they kept the
main secret of the arena very well hidden until the revelation. I heard that
they got a new director and I must say he did such a great job.
My only complaint with this movie was the idea of simple
scares. I personally have never been a fan of the quick pan around, see
something scary, and have a big boom of sound, just to mess with the audience.
I counted them doing it 3 times in the movie. I think that this is a lame way
to keep the audience intrigued. I will admit, It was funny to hear the woman in
front of me freaking out with every scare. Maybe it is just that I don’t jump
at these things anymore that I don’t like them. Oh well, doesn’t really matter.
Go watch Catching Fire. It is very well made.
Over Thanksgiving break I had the
privilege of watching Frozen. It was a welcome addition to the Disney princess
family. Unlike many of the other Disney princess movies, this one was not as
straight forward. Let me tell you, when the big plot twist hit, like half the
crowded theater gasped. It was brilliant. I think that the way they pulled of
something you would not expect from a princess movie, on purpose, was a perfect
thing to do.
Frozen took a great deal of things
from Tangled. I am guessing after the success of Tangled they wanted to go with
a sure win of a movie. Frozen had the exact same animation style as Tangled.
They both had a horse, of sorts, to accompany the main leads. And they both had
a similar idea of music. Actually, I would have to say that Frozen did a little
bit more than was needed when it comes to the music. They seemed to force some
of the songs. It is just my opinion though.
Frozen was a good movie, but not
anything new. No innovation was made other than the story topic. I really did
appreciate what the themes were though. Trust me when you see the movie, you
will figure out right away what I am talking about. I know that I shouldn’t
like there being themes in movies, due to this class. But I think for
children’s movies as well say the type of world we are becoming, this theme was
necessary, and a welcome idea. At least that is my opinion.
Pfffirate was probably my favorite indapendant film shown in class. The simple story and beautiful art style was almost a great example of what a small group can do together. I must say that I look the plastic look that the artist put into this video. Like Leeper said, the plastic look is the easiest look for 3D animation, so it was a great choice on their part
Speaking of great choices, I really thought that this film shows the whole idea of simple ideas going far. For instance the ocean was all a hard surface of plastic. This resulted in the animators not needing to animate water, which from my understanding would have been a huge pain in the butt. Another great choice on the animator's part was that the mice didn't really move that much, they merely bounced around, while keeping their body stationary. Yet another way that they spent their time and resources wisely. One last example of great choices was that there was no words. I know it sounds obvious now, but I hadn't put much thought int o it before. Without real words, there is nothing to sync up to in the animation, thus resulting in an easier time. The stories that are shown in these short independent films are usually some of the most touching stories, because there is only the end resulting emotion that we really have time to feel. For this film it was laughter. In my private studies, I have lately been feeling sadness coming from the films. It makes you wander what emotion you will show the most in your works. I think I learned alot about smart choices and how to apply them. Immediately after class I personally was thinking up some simple short animations. Hopefully someday one of them will come to life.
Like I said in the title, this is by FAR the most difficult blog for me to post. I am going to try and be a blatantly honest as to what happened and what I thought as I go through this story. Please take some time and read all of the text and watch the videos. Try to understand that this is just my opinion and you are free to have your own opinions, just please listen to my argument. So I am a Youtuber, meaning I watch a great deal of Youtube. The Youtube group I am subscribed to is TheFineBros. Today they posted a video that I had a hard time watching. It was a video of kids being shown videos on Youtube of homosexuals being engaged. The majority of the kids were all happy for the couple and the odd people out were those who were disturbed by this. One girl specifically attacked anyone who was opposed to anyone who took a stand against gay marriage. So I watched about half way through when I had to stop. One, I didn't like how TheFineBros had posted this video in the first place. Two I didn't like the numbers being in favor of the marriage. To get my mind back into order I searched for a specific video I had skimmed by on Facebook. I remembered that the title said something like What the World would be like if only Homosexuality was Accepted in the World. I eventually found the video on Youtube. I thought this was going to be a video talking about how we wouldn't be able to reproduce and make some jokes or something...I was completely wrong. So I started the video and I noticed that it was a short film, instead of a normal 3 minute video on Youtube. Ok I guess it will be a little more serious than I thought. Yeah, I am ok with this. It started with a girl raised by two mothers in a world where all the couples are of the same gender. It gave some info of the world and how it worked. How everyone hated the Heteros. Then the girl I spoke of before started to get feelings for a guy. At this point I was thinking, "I wander how they will turn this around so that it shows how homosexuality is wrong. Seriously there are wings and a logo at the bottom right corner, plus it has like 90% thumbs up, it has to be a Christian film." WRONG!!!I was about half way through that I figured it out. The girl and the guy started hanging out and they got into a relationship. After a while, they were found out. The kids at school started to make fun of the girl and called her a Hetero. Then the guy denied the relationship, and made fun of her in order to not be made fun of. Then after it escalated to the point that the girl came home beaten up and had the word Hetero written on her forehead, in sharpie. The girl went into her room crying, while she got text after text of people calling her names. At this point I was thinking, "I get the idea, they are trying to make us opposed to homosexuality feel what they feel at school." The girl, after some thought, goes to the bathroom and kills herself. I stopped watching when she grabbed for the knife/scalpel (not sure what it was) that would kill her. I had to stop and think for a bit. The video was THAT disturbing to me.So after much thought, I decided that I had to blog about this or else I would be denying the fact that I watched the video. As Christians, this is a very painful subject to talk about to nonbelievers. Even some Christians are actually for gay marriage. I grew up in a home and church that taught me that homosexuality was wrong. I didn't really think about it until I got into older, when some of my old friends became gay. I had to figure out exactly how I wanted to go about this. I think it was about my Junior year in high school that I had a speaker actually talk about it in some Christian environment. I can tell you that this is not a subject that is talked about much, so this was a little weird to listen to. The speaker talked about how gay marriage is a sin like any other. If you would like to argue that same sex marriage is not a sin here are some verses to defend this view: Genesis 1:27, Romans 1:26-27, and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. But now don't go off by saying that they are evil now because of their sin. Remember, "We all have sinned. and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3: 23). Luckily, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). As Christians we can't say that we are any better than nonbelievers. Just as someone might might struggle with homosexuality, someone else might struggle with lust. I can't tell you how much it angered me when in the video it showed the church pastor saying that the Heteros are going to Hell. If this is read in the opposite sense, we Christians are saying that homosexuals are going to hell. NO!!! This is not true! It is not that one act that leads us to hell. It is sin in general that leads humanity to hell. Just one sin is enough to stain a human with sin for eternity, that is how much God despises sin. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). It is only through Christ Jesus, God in human form, dying on the cross, dying for our sins, that we are saved from an eternity in Hell. We must accept this gift Jesus gave us, and believe that He is the one and only way of salvation in order to be given this gift of eternity in Heaven with God. To sum all of this up, don't hate those who are gay. We as Christians are to love them like any other sinner. We can guide them through friendship a LOT better than yelling at them and calling them evil little monsters that don't understand the human anatomy. To call them evil and not point a finger back at yourself is like being like the Pharisee in Luke 18:9-14's parable. Humble yourself and love them. (AAAAND to make this DMA related, the second video did a good job making you feel for the girl and the actors, especially the kids did a great job portraying their characters.)
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to watch Gravity in IMAX. Gravity is one of those movies you just have to ask how. HOW did they make such amazingly long shots in such a large space. For instance I hear that the first scene was 17 minutes long while not having a single cut. That requires a great deal of coordination and timing. HOW was it that they could make such an incredible movie with with only three cast members. Some of the greatest movies take advantage of great narrative through words. I only said some. This movie is the direct opposite. The silence and the actions are what tell the story. The main character for example doesn't say much, but her breathing and body movements are what show what she is thinking. This is one of the things that made this movie for me. Towards the end of the movie, there is one moment that the character accept the fact that life will end eventually die and will use the time she has to fight for what she thinks is important. I think this one of the only moments in the movie that really had me think. What would it be like if people instead of running from their fate of death, fought for what they think is important. I feel like humanity would get farther because we are constantly afraid. Why don't we just take that fear and move that energy to something else. It wasn't easy for the character in Gravity, nor will it be easy for us but I think that we can do it.
Blood Brothers was a documentary of Rocky going to India. After watching the movie, you have to wander how well doing video taping your life would look as a movie. Seriously, during the movie I was like, "I could do this," then I was like, "wait no, I have a boring life." But that brings up one of the things that I want to talk about. Do you NEED an interesting life to become famous for you life? There are those who make vlogs, while others write books. Some become famous and others don't, why is this? I think in this day and age, it is not so much about how interesting your life is, as apposed to a entertaining life. You can have as much drama in your life as you want, but if you don't have either humor, explosions, awesome job, or a crazy person you see every once in a while: noone will care. On a completely other note. If you remember, Rocky was getting pizza for the kids, and one of his friends was feeling bad about this because all the other people who were having such a hard time in the department of food. Was it right for him to do that to others? For me I think it wasn't right. I think that it was interesting that they put this in the movie, because it really doesn't have a definite answer. The viewer is the only one who gets to decide their opinion. Over all great movie.
So I was an idiot. I totally forgot that I watched Rashomon with everyone! I remember what I was going to say about it though. I AM SUCH An IDIOT. Here I am crunching and I had an easy way out this whole time. This is life, might as well keep moving forward.
Rashomon had a great concept which many movies have taken from since then. It wells a story from multiple people's perspective. The thing that makes it really shine is that the stories don't fit together. Obviously someone is lying. One of the main premises is that you can't trust everything you hear. The movie makes you wait till the very end to learn the full truth, and even then it isn't a happy truth. The evil in man's heart won in every story even the last. But obviously as anyone who watched it would know, the movie tries to tell us that the good it people will never fully burn out. We see this in seen with the baby.
My one problem with this movie is that it is SUPER slow. I understand it is older, but we as an audience need to watch a girl crying for 5 minutes. We as an audience are smart enough to understand that she is sad. While I was watching the movie, I was tempted to just go out of the room and take a break during the crying scenes because I got so bored of them. Why didn't anyone change this part of the movie? That is my question.
I heard from someone that computers get twice powerful every 1.5 years. It is called Moore's Law. If that is true do you ever thin of the possibilities? We can do amazing things at this point. We animators are making objects in a virtual world right now. Some would say that, with enough time, the object could pass for real. It's a beautiful thing.
Go forty or fifty years in the future. What will it be like? I know that I have thought of this stuff since I heard about this. I have always dreamed of virtual worlds that we could enter as a person. I guess that is still a little far fetched but I can dream. Another thing that I had thought of was a computer with enough power to read your mind in some way. With enough control we could animate things through thought. Instead of working hours and hours to get a certain curvature, you could envision it.
I always loved to make up possible futures. Computers are amazing things that can do so much good in the world. I really hope that the world starts using computers for more good. If we could all just learn to get along and help each other we could do SO much more. A world without viruses, that would be amazing wouldn't it!?
I was at my old school today and I had to keep telling people that I was doing animation. Everyone is always like, "Oh that sounds cool". What I kept thinking was that I was the one to who even considered this major. No one thought it as a possibility until I found it personally on my free time. I think that the school system has to do better at telling students what options they have. Maybe if we had more of those tests and we had a way to see every option we would have more variety in occupation.
Now there is still the idea of jobs that haven't been made up, but we could still try. I think some of the best occupations are those that weren't even thought of until it was made up by one man in the middle of nowhere. I feel like for me personally, I have a lot of different little gifts that God is going to use, but I am worried that I will have to be one of those people that made up a new occupation because I don't think animation is going to be the only thing involved. It will take time but I may find what I am looking for in these four years at Huntington University.
God gives us all different gifts and abilities. I just wish God would come and say, "Lance you should do _____" Wouldn't that be the greatest thing ever!? What I was told last year when I was thinking of this kind of stuff was that I was thinking to hard. I thought that God has only one thing that He has destined for our future. What I was told by my mentor was that if I live ofr God, He will be happy with whatever I do. Still not sure what to think.
I watched the movie Apollo 13 today. I hadn't seen it since I was like 10. I finally understood what was going on. Before all I thought was that it was some guys in space. Now I see that it is so much more. Instead of just some guys, I learned it is about a guy with a family. Would you be willing to risk your life and the rest of your time with your family to walk on the moon? That is a question that he had to ask himself in this movie. His wife had it the hardest. She had to sit on Earth as she heard about how badly her husbands space flight was going, while she is COMPLETELY powerless.
There is a symbol that Jim (the astronaut) uses to show how his priorities change in the movie. When he was on Earth, he put his thumb up to the moon. This is showing that he was super excited, maybe to the point of prioritizing it. When he had all the bad things happen to him in space he does the same thing but only to the Earth. It shows how much he missed his family and how maybe he should have spent his time differently.
The director of Apollo 13 new what he was doing. He was very good at making all the facts precise and he made sure to make a compelling story without taking that way. Ron Howard (the director) new that this would be a hit not only because he it was historical of a very scary event. Also because it is something that not everyone knows all the details to he could educate the audience of the details. Over all brilliant movie.
I recently watched the movie, Lilo
and Stitch. I don’t know why but I just had an uncontrollable urge to watch it.
It was as enjoyable as I remember. There were still the laughs. Still the funny
voice of Stich that I personally think I can do a pretty good impression of.
Oh, and don’t forget the iconic Ohana.
Me being a little older and more
thoughtful of what I watch, I noticed something. You know how the premise of
the movie is that Stitch had good in him even though he was created to only
destroy? Yeah, the idea that anyone can change. Well did you ever think about
Lilo? Why was she the one to teach Stitch what is right and what is wrong? She was
a bully!
If you watch the movie you see her
do all sort of rude and nasty things to people. An example of this is when she
attacked the one girl with glasses. Not to mention how much of a pain she is to
her sister. Yes she grew too, but why did they have it so that a little messed
up girl was the one to change a world destroying monster? In another way she is
the one hope for humanity. I don’t get
it in the least. Maybe, just maybe, I am biased.
I just came back to Wisconsin. On
the way Julia and I talked for about 4 hours about college and what we both
thought of Huntington. She is a film major and I am animation, obviously we are
going to talk about DMA. One thing specifically we talked about was the idea of
types of movies we like. Even though we had different views on what movies are
the best, we both love movies for the art. I think that people who want to go
into any type of Digital Media Art should think of art this way.
There are different types of movies
obviously. One that I really like is the children’s film genera. The humor and
bright colors bring me joy. On the other hand there are those who like horror
films. I am personally not one for these types of movies because I can’t take
the idea of that much bad happening to someone. What I noticed on the ride is
that no matter what type of movies you like, it is the art form of conveying a
story that makes us gain pleasure through it.
I think
that instead of arguing on what type of movies are the best we need to
highlight good movies as good movies, and bad movies as bad movies. If someone said
to me that a certain horror movie was good I would go and watch it because it
is good, instead of avoiding as a whole because I don’t care for the genera.
This brings up the idea of what the world would look like if we intersected
more genera. A little scary, but it could bring out some cool things.
