Pokemon X&Y (Review)

Okey dokey so finally I have completed the story play of Pokemon X&Y! And here’s how it breaks down:

Story: It was kind of lacking to be honest. There’s not much when it comes to the post-champion stage and that’s awfully disappointing – even if I was super excited to work with Looker again! And then there’s my group of friends who uh… Kid of think I’m a God. Seriously could they be any less pathetic? I fell that with a region as huge as Kalos is there could be a lot more story line to go along with it.

Graphics: As per expected these graphics were supah fab! I L O V E loved Pokemon-ami! It was so precious and ad;lskgfs. The 3D battles were sweet too! I loved the mix of traditional artwork with the 3D the most!

So I think I’d give Pokemon X and Y a 7 out of 10. It was good game and I really enjoyed playing it but there are some things I hope they build on in a spin off or future game.

The game is on!

Do you guys know what comes back on New Year’s Day? Do you?? DO YOU? Well you should because that’s the day that BBC Sherlock series 3 airs. I am so incredibly excited you have no clue because you know as usual I have incredible feels for all the characters.

It’s kind of hard to believe there are only six episodes but they are all practically individual movies that intertwine so beautifully. Ah. This show. Anyways yeah I am really excited.

This isn’t much of a post either but as usual I recommend this show to all the people because everyone should experience the excellency that is BBC Sherlock. And you know there are only six episodes so uh… You can easily watch all of those in the time before series 3 airs…

Did you get the pie?

Okay so a recent addiction for me is Supernatural and it’s no wonder. The big brother little brother dynamic is so similar to FMA that I could just curl into a pit of despair right now – but I won’t.

I had to get a few episodes in before I was settled but I am so glad I stuck with it! These characters guys just AGH. I really like how through the lore and myths are in the show – it just adds to the intensity! I have so many major feels for each and every character in this show – Even the villains! (I need to stop getting so attached to fictional characters aha…)

I’m only in Season 8 so I’m not quite caught up but that’s one of my missions over Christmas break. But yeah… I wish I had more to say about this but agh. If you’re into the “Supernatual” kind of show (See what I did there?) then you show check out SPN.

YouTuber: TheFineBros

So I’m going to take a leap of faith here and assume everyone knows who TheFineBros are… But just in case Benny and Rafi Fine are the two master mind brothers who created the “React” videos and countless other YouTube phenomenon. Needless to say they’re one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to YouTube!

My favorite show the have currently running is MyMusic, which I blogged about earlier this semester (When I wasn’t cramming in a bunch at the last minute… Oops!). I just really love the community the Fine Bros have within their fanbase! And there are so creative and dorky! Two things I look for in a YouTuber.

So if you don’t know who they are or maybe you’ve never really looked into them I most diddly definitely recommend checking out their channel! If you don’t like one thing they post I’m sure there’s something there for you!

Pokemon: The Origin

Well of course the Poke-nerd is going to blog about the recently released four part special – Pokemon: The Origin.

First things first: lkasjlfdbanglafs flmasl;kngasoidfj  ljelfkasjndf ocijamsd flskndfodj vadks. rjkowepc  nsdljvnpsa ojncweoi’f… Okay I’m done.

Being a long time fan of the Pokemon Franchise I was so excited when they announced that they were making a special based on the games! That’s every Kanto-raised-trainer’s dream! And it was glorious!

It was different animation from the original Pokemon anime and it was a nice change. Some of the American dub voice actors didn’t really fit the role * cough cough * Professor Oak * cough cough * but I think the dub team did a great job! I also really liked how the actual series stuck to the storyline of the original Red and Blue games. And they linked it to the recently released XY games too! Really words can’t explain how much I loved these four episodes!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

There is no better feeling than rewatching an anime series after a long time. And I don’t mean a series like Pokemon. I’m talking hardcore punch you in the face with all the feels anime. The anime I’m talking about is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

You may have seen me mention this anime a couple of time in my past blogs so you should know that FMA is one of my all time favorite animes. I’m not sure what possessed me to rewatch this series this past week but that what I’ve been doing… And I only have six episodes left! I’m not sure what it is about these characters but I just simply fall for all of them and I’m pretty sure I have balled my eyes out on more than one or ten episodes.

The reason why I say this is one of the best feelings in because – just like reading a book for the second time – I noticed little subtleties. Things I wouldn’t have noticed before because I didn’t know what was going to happen next. I definitely recommend you watch this anime because you know IT’S AWESOME.

It's... Saturday?

Okay so since many of you are involved in the YouTube-verse, you may have seen Rebecca Black and Dave Days’ brand new song Saturday. I gotta be completely honest here: I LOVE THIS SONG. And the music video is sweet!

Friday annoyed the crap out of me but I loved listening to call the covers from it! And now that RBlack wrote a new song about the next day of the week I like her about ten times better! The whole music video has tons of references to the Friday video and it made me giggle.

Rebecca has definitely grown up since 2010 when Friday was released and she’s actually really precious and funny. She cameo-ed in MyMusic’s first season and it was cute. Ahaa all in all I think this video is fantastic even if it had 41K dislikes on it. People need to lighten up a bit but oh well. Here’s Saturday by Rebecca Black and Dave Days.

YouTube Challenges

Ever heard of challenges on YouTube? I bet you have. Sometimes they include cinnamon or mentos and coke. But YouTube Challenges are a great way to have fun in a video that you don’t want to spend a long time filming! I recently did a challenge video with my cousin. We did 5 challenges and had so much fun!

There are some challenges that could actually kill you though so it’s in your best interest to not do them. Examples are: Cinnamon Challenge and Chubby Bunny. I know it’s so much fun to watch GloZell freak out because she used a freaking ladle for her cinnamon but if too much is consumed or breathed in it could kill you – and no one wants that: especially over a YouTube video.

Here’s my challenge video and I hope if you ever do a challenge video, you will do your research. Don’t anything that could possible get you hurt.

VidCon

Where is the cool place for YouTubers to hang out? Why at a convention of course! What convention you ask? VidCon! This nifty little convention was created by Hank and John Green (Known as the Vlogbothers on YouTube and you know – THEY WRITE BOOKS.)

VidCon was created for YouTubers to create contacts and to grow their brand or you know… Just to party! They have two tracks: Industry and Community. In the Industry track attendees have access to panel about how to grow their audience and essentially make money off of their content! The Community track is just as it sounds – THE YOUTUBE COMMUNITY. Attendees in this track still have access to other Youtubers but they’re simply there for the big giant party called VidCon.

I will be attending the 5th Annual VidCon at the end of June 2014 and I am incredibly excited! I’m going with one of my best friends and can’t wait to experience this event! If you have plans of going to Anaheim at the end of you June you should come to VidCon!

Youtuber: HeyThere005

Let’s talk about Ashley Mardel for a sec. First of all when I show her video to my friends they all seem to think we’re related?? Seriously she’s like my long lost sister or something aha… She funny, quirky and just straight up adorable! She posts some of the CRAZIEST videos when she hits a subscriber goal!

Another thing I L-O-V-E about Ashley is how supportive she is for her subscribers! The video I posted really shows how caring and compassionate she is! She here for you just as much you’re here for her when you watch her videos.

Overall Ashley is one of my ALL TIME YOUTUBERS. You should go check her out because she is precious and energetic!

Canadian TV

Have you ever wondered what TV shows were made in Canada? BECAUSE YOU SHOULD. Here’s my top five Canadian Created TV shows:

5
Degrassi – Okay so I never actually watched this one but everyone knows it so it needs to be on this list…

4
Corner Gas – It’s so Canadian it hurts. Set in Dogriver, Saskatchewan we see the daily doings of Brent who runs the local corner gas. And there’s a girl who has a really annoying voice but that’s okay.

3
The Red Green Show – Okay so if you thought Corner Gas was Canadian you’ve got another thing coming. Red Green is a handyman from Possum Lodge, Canada and we follow him through zany adventures.

2
6Teen – I really hope you guys know what this show is because IT WAS AWESOME. It’s about 6 friends (Who are teenagers – get it?) and basically deals with the problems that teens and preteens deal with. It’s pretty dang cute and funny so you should watch it.

1
Life With Derek – YESSS. This show was supah fab. Just go watch it. ESPCIALLY if you have to deal with an annoying brother! It’s too bad they had to cancel because two characters were dating and yeah… It’s hard to pretend your boyfriend is actually your stepbrother.

Music Videos

You know what’s sad? I missed the music video talk. *pulls out hair* I was out getting real world experience instead of watching music videos which are like, you know, MY THING? So ,HERE ARE MY TOP FIVE MUSIC VIDEOS BECAUSE YOU GUYS NEED TO KNOW. (No pictures today. I’m lazy.)

5: Beauty and A Beat, Justin Beiber – Okay so yeah I don’t like the Biebs as a person but come on, this was a pretty sweet video. The fact that JB basically did the whole thing by himself and a hundred of his closest friends was pretty sweet. I want a GoPro so bad you have no idea.

4: Headphones, Brit Nicole – This music video is cute. I love the colors and the song is supah fab. I’ve been playing with the idea of making my own video to this song ever since I heard it so of course it’s on my list.

3: When Can I See you Again, Owl City – I KNEW OWL CITY BEFORE HE WAS COOL. *cough* Anyways, This music video is so fun and Wreck It Ralph and klhdfgk;lajsdljsdojda Precious.

2: You Can Call Me Al, Paul Simon – Oh please. It has Chevy Chase in it LIP DUBBING Paul’s song!! It’s just incredibly adorable and pool Paul is there like, “Chevy. YOU AREN’T DOING ANYTHING. THIS IS MY SONG. GET OUT.” Sassy Paul is the best Paul.

1: Let’s Go To The Mall, Robin Sparkles – AHAHAHA. It’s a real music video. And it’s pretty great because CANADA. I love HIMYM and am so behind on this last season AHAHAHA. But yeah guys look – Robin’s rapping.

P.S. Honorary Mentions go to Call Me Maybe, Carly Rae Jepsen and Gangnam Style, PSY because THEY ARE MY JAMS.

Birthdays!

Seeing as Today is my birthday I thought: LET’S DO A BIRTHDAY TOP 4 (Because I can’t find a fifth…). Actually I love birthdays and not just mine. I love getting people presents and seeing their eyes light up when they see it was something they wanted or laughing because of how ridiculous the gift is. BIRTHDAYS ARE A WONDERFUL THING. So here you go my Top Four Birthdays.

Uncle Buck – Seriously who doesn’t want to wake up to GIANT PANCAKES? Even though it has been a LOOONG time since I saw this movie I still think that Uncle Buck’s determination to make Miles’ birthday the best he could very endearing.

13 Going On 30 – Please. What kind of birthday is it where you DON’T shout your favorite girl power songs at the tops of your lungs? Not my kind of party! I love this movie so of course it makes my list. Jennifer Garner is supah fab and the girls in this scene are perfect!

Fullmetal Alchemist; Elicia Hughes – Who doesn’t love a toddler on their birthday? That’s right this little cutie first appears in FMA on her third birthday and what a precious lamb she is!

Sixteen Candles – Okay even though I had to suffer through this cheezy 80’s flick on multiple occasions, there is no better birthday scene than this one. When you’re entire family forgets about your big day of becoming a 16 year old it’s devastating! But then when you least expect it your Prince (or Princess for you boys!) Charming come swooping is with a candle light dinner just for you!

This is a title.

I’m not sure how to title this blog but yeah. I like to draw but I’m not an animator nor do I want to go professional with my artwork. Even though I make this VERY clear people still ask me, “Wow! You draw! You obviously want to be a pro!” or “You can only do art if you do it professionally.” or “You’ll never go pro with the rate you’re improving.”

I don’t understand this way of thinking?? Is it really that weird that I like to draw but have no intention of going pro?? Like, why is that even a sterotype? Last January I was mentioned in a post on some tumblr blog called “Artist-Confessions” or something and the poster was anonymous. They had said that I hadn’t improved in four years and therefore I was a crappy artist.

Firstly, I hadn’t even done anything to offend anyone so I couldn’t fathom why I would be getting hate. Secondly, it was fairly obvious I HAD improved. So the post didn’t make sense?? I just brushed it off like it was nothing but I just kept thinking about it. Was it really a bad thing that I drew as a hobby and not to make money? I’m a sensitive person and this whole problem made me upset.

Anyways, I’m not in any way saying going pro in art is bad! In fact if I had enough patience for animating I would probably be in that major, but alas I’m a dorky film girl. So what do you guys think? Have you ever been asked/told these things?

The YouTube Music Awards

So on Sunday YouTube hosted their very first music awards show. Behind it had some very interesting and exciting events – such as live music videos. I so excited for this! A YouTube award show! How cool! I sat excitedly behind my computer screen watching the viewer number increase. And then it started.

It was such a major let down, to say the least. The hosts were incredibly bland and boring – they should’ve had a script. Lady Gaga’s performance was sub-par and she looked like a mess the entire song. It felt like we were watching a cheap and clumsy version of the Nick Choice Awards – all we needed was green slime.

The whole production was sloppy and it physically hurt to watch the hosts try to be funny. Speaking of being funny – the lead singer for Arcade Fire tried to pull a spoof of the Kayne-Taylor joke when T-swift won video of the year. (I’m still puzzled by how Trouble beat out BOTH Harlem Shake and Gangnam Style for YouTube Phenomenon…)

Oh and want to know how many YouTube based nominees there were? Not even half. Want to know how many won? Just two.  Destorm (The hosts didn’t even say it right!! Know your Youtubers guys!) and Lindsey Sterling definitely deserved it! But for a show centered on YouTube the producers seemed to miss that this should include the community that YouTube envelops.

Did I mention they bleeped out half of one performance? Yeah. That happened. So did a choose-your-own-adventure skit where the audience choose a double suicide. Awesome, ‘cause that’s always funny.

It was shoddy work to say the least and I am not okay with how it turned out. There were YouTubers who tweeted @YouTube with how upset they were with it. I felt like I was at a Junior High Dance....

I Thought We Were Done With Tragety?

I forgot what I was going to blog about today… IT WAS GOING TO BE GOOD TOO. So as a back up we are going to discuss:

PAYTON’S TOP FIVE TRAGIC DEATHS. That’s right, boys and girls; these are my most heart wrenching and saddening death scenes I have seen so far. *****THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED***** Let’s get started:

Wizardmon, Digimon – Even though I am a hardcore Pokemon fan, I loved Digimon. And just ack Wizardmon was just dls;hg;ldgfj. It’s unfair! Bvj;doe;nasdfkmas;

Mufasa, Lion King – Long live the king. Simba is such a precious cub and I bawl every time I watch this scene! Nfw;vjdmlaka;l

Marley, Marley and Me – WHENVER YOU WATCH A MOVIE ABOUT AN ANIMAL THEY DIE. I SHOULD’VE KNOW BETTER. //sobs in the corner

Ellie, Up – I ljust danl;vjdsa; The first time I saw Up I was over at a friend’s house and was bawling. IT was awkward because this friend didn’t know me very well and didn’t seem as emotionally attached to the characters as I was only 15 seconds into the film.

Maes Hughs, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – I JUST. WHY. It was hard enough watching this scene the first time in the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime but having to watch it AGAIN IN BROTHERHOOD. I threw a fit! Maes is probably one of my all-time favorite comic relief characters. Dn;fgljnad;lkv

And there you go. A good (quality?) blog post.

Social Media

Okay so I’m a bit biased (A bit meaning I have probably tried every social media out there, but I digress.) But I think social media is fantastic! It’s an easy way to make connections (which is super important in our industry!) and get your name out there. Not everyone gets famous but I have seen quite a few of my friends get some break-throughs just by posting some recordings on soundcloud

What are my favorite social media sites you ask? Well let me tell you young grasshopper:

PRESENTING PAYTON’S TOP 5 SOCIAL NETWORKS

Facebook: Yeah yeah I know. Everyone has a FB but that’s kind of the point. Facebook makes it really easy to keep in touch with friends from home who can’t text the States and with family that I don’t always see. Seriously there’s not much to it other than that but still belongs on this list.

Tumblr: No even though it’s currently blocked on the school’s WiFi (UGH I NEED MY FANDOM FIX) I love Tumblr. I can choose on if I want to post my own creative (or not so creative) post or just reblog one that’s relevant to my current life situation. And did I mention fandoms? Yeah that’s right. If you thought Tumbling was just for hipsters think again because some of the biggest fandoms (such as SuperWhoLock) reside on this blogging site.

Vine: Hush you skeptics. Even though Vine is just an app, it’s still a social network and have you seen some of the things people post on here?? How can you fit so much comedy in just 6 seconds of pure gold?? Seriously I love me some Viners.

Twitter: Can you express your thoughts in 140 characters or less? I know I can and not only that you can find stupid comments to biblical quotes on this lovely little site. I’m probably closing on 5000 tweets right now and I’ve had this account for four years! But yeah quality stuff (For the most part).

YouTube: Okay so coming from the girl with the most failed YT accounts you’d probably be asking yourself – why is this your number one? Well let me tell you that I have found some of my greatest inspirations on this site. In fact this site is one of my biggest motivators to begin making videos! I started off as a geeky anime music video editor (WOW WAS I A NOOB) but now I can’t stop myself from pursuing this trade!

So there you go! My longest blog post ever.

What’s the PLUREST thing is town?

Welcome to MyMusic Headquarters. A small office building here to give you all your music needs. Whether its music news or a new jam the staff is here to help you. If you’re interested in social networking then Idol is your girl but if you only want a tour then our interns can help you out.

MyMusic is a fun little YouTube Web series currently in its second season! TheFineBros, creators of Kids React, Emo Dad and others, created this show for the YT community! They brought in not only Hollywood talent for this documentary styled how, but they also brought YouTube talents such as DailyGrace and JacksFilms! And not only do they post an episode every week, there are tons of other weekly shows such as The Mosh which lets the fans interact with the staff of MyMusic!

Each episode varies in length from 5 minutes to 10 and the story is so compelling! I really hope you guys check this show out because I have been a dedicated fan since it first started airing!

I only swim Free.

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club is a beautifully drawn and animated anime about well, swimming. First off:

LOOK.

AT.

HOW.

BEAUTIFUL.

THIS.

ART.

 IS.

*cough* Now this anime is centered around a group of boys (Haruka “Haru” Nanase, Makoto Tachibana, Rin Matsuoka and Nagisa Hazuki) who swam together in elementary school but had parted ways shortly after winning victory in a swimming tournament for the team medley because Rin Matsuoka moved to Australia. Later in high school Nagisa, Makoto and Haruka reunite and choose to create a swim club at school! But while digging up old memories they run into Rin, who challenges Haruka to a race!! Wasn’t he in Australia?!

This is one adorable little anime only have 12 episodes and just recently finished its season. I loved watching this anime and who can pass up this BEAUTIFUL art! I definitely recommend it to any anime watchers out there.

Gotta Catch 'Em All

So since the brand new Pokemon X and Y are due in less than a month I think we should sit back an observe how BIG of a game changer this game has to offer.
First we have the introduction of the brand new Fairy type which levels the playing field for us none Dragon users! I’ve been wanting a new type for ages now and even though the Light type would’ve been cooler, I’M BURSTING AT THE SEAMS TO USE THIS NEW TYPE.

Next is Mega-evolutions. Now, calm down I know what you’re thinking. “IT’S JUST A DIGIMON RIP-OFF”. Ha. No it’s not. Mega-evolutions are a similar concept sure but they aren’t the same. And it’s only for particular Pokemon!
Like MewTwo. I am even more excited for that pokemon to be brought back into the game! Being the Pokemon lover I am, I have watched the first movie over, and over and OVER again.

CHECK OUT THESE GRAPHICS.
Seriously guys. Even though the 3D functionality is only during battles this are pretty sick and worth all the hype! I’ve already pre-ordered so I hope someone else has so we can play together!!

P.S. Did you hear that you get one of the Kalos starters AND one of the original starters? Pretty sweet right? I think so.
