The Last One... I think

Frozen
Hi everybody, this is it from me!... I think. I got to go see frozen with a bunch of people today, I was going to wait and see it once it came out on DVD, but since Addessie decided to make the final project in Photoshop be Frozen related, I decided that it might help me decide what to draw.

My thoughts on the movie, I really liked it. I came in knowing that it was based off the Snow Queen, but like any new Disney movie, the original fairy tale would be butchered almost beyond recognition. I actually rather liked the Snow Queen, and knowing that it kind of gave me mixed feelings on seeing it. I caught most of the little hints at Anderson’s fairy tale, (I think) but even if I didn’t catch the little easter eggs, It still would have been a great movie.

(By the way, there are spoilers after this…I think this should just be assumed by now.)

I think what made it great, was its poking fun at the typical Disney princess love story. Meet, fall in love, and get married, all in one or two days. That was seen mostly at the beginning, later it changed from funny to rather serious, the true love wasn’t a prince, or a guy who had her interests above his, it was family. Anna was willing to die to try and protect her sister, isn’t that worth more than some kiss?

Random though of this blog: I thought the movie was going to be a lot more like tangled, just from the still shots I had seen before. Other than the artwork, they are definitely two different films.

And was I the only one to not see the main twist coming? I mean, I was thinking it was going to end like Snow White and the Huntsman, but no.
Well, that’s all folks.

Why cant I use my cool font in here? I like it so better than the ones they give to use...

(Once again, there will be spoilers)

Literally, the title means, The Body Guard, and I think the title followed the movie rather well. For those who did not go and see this at signs and wonders, it’s a Kurosawa film about a lone samurai who comes across a town with two rival gangs, one a split off of the other. The nameless samurai (he goes by Kuwabatake Sanjuro, which means 30 year old mulberry field, because that is what he saw when asked for his name) plays both gangs off of each other, gaining favor and wealth from each, until all of them end up dead.

Something that I noticed played through most of the film, was real skill VS raw power. Sanjuro had trained with the sword for who knows how many years, he was extremely good with the blade. Unosuke used an old pistol, and while he did have really good aim, he relied too much on the very fact that he had a gun, rather than his own skill in that weapon. Though I must question the sanity of Sanjuro at the end, when he give the dying Unosuke his pistol…while standing right next to him…and he had to know it was loaded… but he gets away with it, as he keeps his life.

A Random Thought: I think this might be my favorite Signs and Wonders film…okay, tied with Red Violin. But I loved the comedy in this one, it definitely made me want to watch the sequel...which i have yet to do.

That Play Leeper Offered Double Credit For...

Seven Brides For Seven Brothers

So, I got to go see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Friday. It was pretty fun…yeah.

As to get the blog credit, I thought Sean and Sam’s dancing was rather humorous, I loved how they started out all awkward and had jerky movements, but they got the flow down eventually.

I think my favorite parts of the show were when the brothers were talking about kidnaping the girls, and then doing the actual deed. The good, old fashioned comedy of everyone running about the stage and getting into weird situations really made me laugh…. Meow! Hehehe.

So, here is what to take from this story. Don’t go getting married to someone you have only known for 3 hours, and if their life seems too good to be true…it is. When the wife you just basically kidnaped teaches your brothers manners, takes them to a social, and they find girls, don’t decide to talk about kidnaping them. Do not ever, ever, act upon the last statement… And when you do, your wife’s baby shall be claimed by all the girls you convinced your siblings to drag up the mountain.

(I would completely disregard that last paragraph were I you)

To be honest, I think this was meant to be a fun slice of life. There isn’t a particular deeper meaning, except maybe this: life is unexpected, and will probably be pretty chaotic at times, so be prepared for anything to be thrown at you.

Random Thought of the Blog: ... hmm. Well...yeah I got nothing this time.
