Leverage

So the reason I am behind in blogs is due mostly to me watching five season of the show Leverage in about a month. Factoring in hours I’ve spent dodging homework with this show, I decided to make my last blog a poem in its honor.

A hacker, a thief, a hitter
A mastermind and a grafter
Steal from the rich to give to the poor
Living in a Robin Hood grandeur

Saving average people from big corporations
They spend their talents making restorations
Instead of themselves, they live for friends
And pick up exactly where the law ends

Going undercover without red tape
They play heroes without a cape
They save the day one problem at a time

Living life on the wrong side of the line

Safe Haven

Safe Haven. A good movie for three reason.

One: it has a stellar cast. Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough are fantastic! On top of them however, you have the most adorable little girl in the history of adorable girls. Her name is Mimi Kirkland, and she is so cute!

Two: Great plot. I’m not one to be surprised in a movie, but this movie took me until the end to fully figure out. Part of this could be that my mom wouldn’t let me look it up online. I do that sometimes when I really can’t figure a movie out, and she wouldn’t let me. But the plot was very confusing and mysterious all the way through.

Three: I’ve always wanted to live in a small town. The scenery that they show in this fantastically wonderful! If I could ever live in a quiet town by the lake, I’d want it to be one like that.

Anyways those are the three reasons I love this movie!

Vanity, Vanity

I wrote this after reading the Pilgrims Progress which is one of my favorite books.  =]

Mirror, mirror on the wall
Oh the fairest of them all
I look into you and all I see
Is the vanity inside of me

All day long, I meet your glare
All day long, I sit and stare
My eyes are drawn into your trap
Like a tired child into a peaceful nap

I dare not play your games no more
‘Cause in my looks I am not poor
I choose to look inside for truth
Not to fame, to money, or youth

Time has uncovered your true nature
You are meaningless, and so immature
Your face is plastered on every page
Of every magazine and on every stage

You claim to love the ones you serve
But they serve you and all your nerve
Your voice is heard in every street
You plead your cause to everyone you meet

Vanity, vanity is your name
Taking people’s lives is your game
You have no soul, no mind, no heart
Yet we are beaten before we start

You know your trade; you do it well
You see your fans and how they fell
I’ve been set free from you
There is nothing that you can do

I aim to tell every lost soul
That beauty in Christ can make them whole
To find true beauty in him they must search
Not in a man, nature, or even church

I’d tell them, “Christ holds the key
To set you free
Reach out your hand
Reveal the lock
Let him be your ever firm rock

He longs to hold and complete your life
To take away all your pain and strife
No longer will vanity hold you in prison

For you are free because Christ has risen”

Acid Crime

I’ve never been so angry at humanity as I was in class Tuesday. Hearing the stories of victims of acid crimes made me want to cry, punch something, and run away all at the same time. How could any human being be twisted enough to burn someone with gasoline and/or acid? I don’t understand!
I’ve never been so close to hating someone. I don’t know why but I can get annoyed with people but it is very hard for me to get angry with them, and I definitely have never hated someone before. Now maybe that’s due to my definition of hate, but I’ve never wished the death sentence on anyone until I watched the terrors those men put the Pakistan women through. The whole time I was watching it I just wanted to scream. I was going to try to write something more than just these two paragraphs of disgust, but I couldn’t. My mind won’t let me dwell on this video anymore.
