I have been wanting to write this blog post for a little while now and I feel like given todays subject of tragedy it would be a great time to post this blog. The events of this day have left no doubt about the power and effect media can have on someone. Although this will not be along the lines of tragedy, comedy, and fairy tales its in the same category regarding the power of media.
There is a lot of fascination in the power of media and the way it can change and control people. Just recently San Diego Comic Con 2013 (SDCC) toke place. For those of you who don't know Comic Con is a corporation dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular artforms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture. During such time there is panels held for tv shows and new and up coming films.
Panels are presented in a conference room called Hall H which holds up to 6,500 people. Each panel held in Hall H is always sold out. During SDCC people camp out for days in line just to get a seat in Hall H. Thats just the beginning of power. Having the ability to capture days of somebody's life for a 2 hour film says a lot about the impact media has had on them.
This year one man named Tom Hiddleston gained one of the biggest reactions SDCC has ever received during a Marvel Panel that he surprised crashed in order to present exclusive footage of Thor: The Dark World. Tom Hiddleston is an actor who is know for his role as Loki the god of mischief, the brother of Thor, in the Marvel movies Thor and Avengers. If you don't know who Loki is here is a small clip to give you an idea of who he is.
