Anyone play Final Fantasy VII?
Are you a fan of Cloud saving the world from a psychopath hell bent on
destroying it for his sort-of dead, freaky, alien mother? Like long fight and
chase scenes with little actual plot? Speaking of, do you like movies that if
you didn’t see the first one, or in this case play it, then the one currently
on screen makes little to know sense? Like fanning over anime guys (or gals…)
If yes to most of the above, then this movie is for you!
This film was definitely made for delight,
but there is an actual lesson… (eastern films are different from western ones,
so I am probably missing something) SPOILER! In the game,
Sephiroth killed this girl (Aerith) that Cloud liked…a lot. And he blames
himself for it. Throughout the movie, Cloud sees Aerith, and asks for
forgiveness. Later, Tifa asks “Who is it going to be, a memory, or us”
Basically saying, will you stop fearing failure and do something? Because if
you don’t go, then you already failed...
The complete/extended version is much better. Quite a few scenes were
redone, and made to make more sense to those who did not play the game. I would
suggest it, to at least see the animation….and to see which characters get the
least screen time, and guess why….hehehe. And even if it is pointless, plot-less, and a giant fight scene... I still love this movie.
