Cartoons now are not what they used to be...

Yesterday in class we watched a Hana-Barbera cartoon that had a spin off of Little Red Riding Hood. As I was watching I noticed the amount of lively-hood the characters possessed and how animated they were. You don't see many cartoons today where a character will grab a door knob with their feet, run through solid objects, have their eyes jump out, or make their bodies lose their bones for a moment and become all jello-ish. It seems most cartoons today try to focus on making the characters and the world around them seem more realistic than imaginative.

There's also been a huge lack in cartoon violence in the 2000's as opposed to the 90's and earlier. Tom & Jerry was one of my favorites growing up. You could never have an episode without senseless violence, whether it be dynamite sticks blowing up in your face, singed by an iron, or having an anvil dropped on you out of nowhere. Shows then didn't have morals or lessons to be learned. Their purpose was strictly to entertain you! Many Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network shows today try to teach kids life lessons through their character's hardships which get resolved in the end by their own fixings.

It would be awesome to see 90's style cartoons come to the 10's (2010's).
