Get a Hand Job Today!

This blog is going to talk about framing when advertising, and how it affects whether or not you buy a product. I recently came across this video and found it to be absolutely hilarious, and yes, THIS IS A REAL PRODUCT YOU GUYS.
I'm a proud owner. Two hand jobs for the price of one!

It got me to thinking about how the way the media phrases things can affect sales in a product. Hand jobs are a great example, but that's more outlandish. Have you ever thought about how the meat they sell is advertised as "95% beef" instead of "5% fat?" It's all about the phrasing. Would you rather buy juice that says "contains 10% real juice" instead of "contains 90% artificial flavoring and chemicals?" Marketing is just a really cool concept to think about; the media really knows how to manipulate you and get what they want out of you. Did you know that changing the tint of a can of 7up to make it seem slightly more yellow will actually change the taste for us? The appearance of what our products come in really do matter... We're just not aware of it.
As rising DMA students, we're about to be put in a position that will allow us to really have an affect on what people think, see, or do. It really is kind of creepy, if you think about it: a cartoon show or movie potentially has more influence than one of our presidents. Dang.

Order yourself a hand job today!
