Best Christmas Movie Ever

A few days ago, my floor was incredibly lucky to catch one of, if not the best Christmas movie of all time on tv. Of course I am talking about Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. The movie is based on a song by the same name, but it has become something much more than that. It has become a classic in its own right. It is the leading exemplar of Christmas programming and even of all moviemaking in general. Truly a masterpiece.

The character development in the movie was superb, only made greater by the phenomenal voice acting and animation. Cousin Mel is the perfect villain, driven by greed and willing to deceive the elderly to get her fortune by selling the grandmother’s general store. She is the perfect contrast to the boy, Jake Spankenheimer, who selflessly sacrifices his time to search for his grandmother so that he can stop his cousin and save Christmas for the whole town. I think this can easily be seen as a direct allegory with Christ’s battle over Satan.

So the bottom line is, you should see this movie, and if you do, invite me because I could watch it maybe a hundred more times and not be done with it. What other movie has poisoned fruit cake, drunk grandmothers, and emailing Santa Claus? Also, do you ever wish that Christmas had a Spanish themed song besides Feliz Navidad? You’re in luck because this movie gave us the best Christmas song of all time:
