Please be patient with me as I am going to go on a little
ranting spree.
WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH EXAGGERATED, UNREALISTIC CHARACTER
DESIGNS! I had recently watched “The Croods” (interesting, it had its moments,
but overall feeling at end was *meh*)
with one of my friends, who shall remain unnamed, and during the movie they
complained about how the cavemen looked (feet weren’t proportionate to the rest
of the body). First of all, IT WAS DURING THE MOVIE. I like to sit and absorb a
movie the first time then pick it apart afterwards (one of those people who
will watch the same thing several time in a row). Besides, it fit the image;
they were cavemen that were ape like so their shoulders and arms are much
larger and more burly than the legs (stocky). I asked, sarcastically if this
was always the case and the answer was yes. There were even problems with the
Vikings from “How to Train Your Dragon” (unrealistic shoulders). I think that
just adds to the fact that they have a hard life/work and it also adds a little
comic relief (big strong armed person on short stubby legs). Both instances
help emphasize the differences between the one odd character (Guy from “Croods”
and Hiccup from “How to Train Your Dragon”). I do want to point out that only
people bother my friend. The rainbow cant and the little red fish birds that ate the whales that
lived on land did not bother my friend at all.
This would bother my friend (head too square) - even though human heads can be ovalish, circleish, or squarish |
This didn't |
