World of Glory

The screaming. The screaming.

I can't stop thinking about this short film. I liked how the film began and ended with the people and children screaming. While this film was difficult to watch at times- it was interesting to see how the man was coping with what he had to witness.
Throughout the film, the man showed us what he does and what his life is like on an ordinary day and what he deals with every night. The scene where the man is at the church and he begins to partake in communion but instead of letting go of the wine he drinks it almost as if he wants to drown in it.  Immediately you could see that he wants to be forgiven so badly that he is willing to drink all the wine in one go to the point of almost drowning himself.

And then it ends with the man at the end of the day trying to go to sleep but cannot because of the tormenting screams and agony of the people victim to the cruelty of the German government at the time. What really interested me was right after the man was telling the voices to stop his wife says something along the lines of: “to go to bed for tomorrow it will be harder.” Now I don’t think that these screams are actually audible but something psychological because of the blood on their hands. And the wife knows exactly what her husband is hearing - as if she is hearing the same type of screams too.
