Tangled

“Rapunzel, Rapunzel with hair so fine,”
That is such a cheesy line
Disney really broke the mold
Creating a twist in the story they told

They made Rapunzel want to leave her home
But scared to go alone
They switched the prince to a thief
That played on Rapunzel’s naïve belief

She wanted to see the lanterns that fly
On her birthday through the sky
He had a dream of his own
To own an island and be all alone

Along the journey is where they both find
Exactly how they’ve been blind
Blind to their actual dreams
Thinking the world is always what it seems

The movie starts out, “This is how I die,”
But when Flynn did, we asked why
Her magic hair was the cure
But he cut it off before healed by her

Mother Gothel died but no one was sad
In fact they might have been glad
But Flynn smiled as he cried
“You were my new dream” and then Ryder died

With her magic hair gone and her power
At the top of her tower
Rapunzel was left hopeless
She sang her song that was proving pointless

Despite things looking desperately bleak
Her tears landed on Flinn’s cheek
Bright flowers danced all around
Till he sat up with a small gasping sound

Not the traditional true love’s first kiss
Or happily ever bliss
Or fairytale logic
Instead Disney worked their classic magic
