If you didn't know, yesterday was Doctor Who's 50th birthday and the episode that I personally have been waiting for about 6 months. IT WAS AWESOME to say the least! In this episode Moffat (the writer) produced some answers but also even more questions.
Okay, from here on out there are SPOILERS PEOPLE.
"SPOILERS" - River Song :)
I was on the edge of my seat for the entire time! At the end when all 13 doctors + the War doctor came in, I totally flipped out! Especially when I saw the 9th doctor say something along the lines of "Here's another one of my tricks", I absolutely love the 9th doctor! I was so happy he was able to take part in the 50th even for only like 3 seconds. Plus PETER CAPALDI PEOPLE. I was so happy but so depressed and sad at the same time because it reminded me that in a month the 11th doctor will regenerate and Matt Smith will no longer be the doctor. ///cries morbidly/// But I know that Capaldi will make a great Doctor! (Besides it is nice that the next doctor will be older since the Doctor/companion relationships have been getting out of hand lately.) Also I really appreciate Captain Jack Harkness being mentioned in the 50th since John Borrowman couldn't because of filming Arrow (dangit!). Plus, don't forget all the feels and things that punched me in the stomach with emotions. Such as 10 saying "I don't want to go" and the War Doctor mentioning kissing Bad Wolf in front of 10 and 11.
And while the special was great and definitely worth the wait, there were some things that bugged me or wish that would have happened or been addressed. Rose Tyler, aka the Bad Wolf aka the conscience of the "moment". I thought that this was very clever but I was so looking forward to Billie Piper actually playing Rose but alas. I was looking forward to 11's reaction to seeing Rose again! On another note, now that the Time Lords exist and the Doctor free from his guilt of being the last of his kind and genocide - this puts a whole new spin on the future of Doctor Who. Also, I feel like the Doctor's character in the revived series was born from his guilt and now that it is virtually gone, I feel as though I don't know the Doctor anymore - that guilt consumed him and made him the Time Lord that he is today. And I am not sure that I liked that it all changed. But my feelings towards that quickly faded once all 13 doctors played a roll in saving Gallifrey.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the 50th anniversary special and had all sorts of emotions running through me before and after. After watching it, I was so overcome by feelings and emotions (such as saying farewell to 10/David Tennant AGAIN) I expressed those feelings by literally crawling off the couch and laying face down on the lounge floor. Bless you Doctor Who. Bless you.
Here is some quickly sketched fan art of 10 & 11. :)
Sketched this without references so 10's hair looks atrocious! sorry not sorry |
