House of Wax

This was an... interesting film. It was 2 AM on a Friday night and I decided "Why not watch a horror movie!" (such a good idea... NOT). I actually do love the horror genre, a lot of my favorite movies and tv shows are considered horror and I very much enjoy Edger Allen Poe's writings.

Anyways! I'm a big fan of Jared Padalecki; co-star on the show Supernatural. I saw back in 2005 he was in the film "House of Wax". I have not seen this film or heard of it but I've wanted to watch it for quite some time.

The movie "House of Wax" was actually made back in 1953 starring Vincent Price and Phyllis Kirk.
The 1953 "House of Wax" is about a Professor (Vincent Price) who specializes in wax sculptures, his most famous being of Marie Antoinette and Joan of Arc. The Professors business partner, Matthew Burke, wants some of his investment back but the Professor refuses so Burke lights the House of Wax on fire to get some insurance money. The Professor is believed to be dead in the fire until he returns months later wanting to remake his famous sculpture of Marie Antoinette. The Professor gets a new assistant, Sue Allen.... I'll let your own imagination go from there.

the 2005 film wasnt as interesting and had horrible reviews compared to the 1953 film. If you like the horror genre I would suggest both of these films...

  1. I just love how campy this movie was. I love that they're like "Well, it's getting late so we better pull over and camp in the middle of this woods instead of going to a motel, and then we should probably get in the car of the first shady looking person that finds us out here." They're all just really bad at making decisions in general.
