XBox One: Why the Hate?

Simply put, if you mention the Xbox One to anyone today, you will either get a groan, a pause, or a finger shaking and silent threats. But to an ordinary uninformed bystander, why would such reactions come from so many people. I mean, it's the Xbox right? What could be wrong with it.

Oh...

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft has become ego-bloated due the extreme success of the Xbox 360, to the point that they would think that they would consider their new restrictions (for its wrong to call them anything else) as "features,."  Even more damning is the fact that Microsoft is apparently perfectly fine with this marketing campaign, and the resulting lash-back from the community, to their apparent incomprehension, was so vicious that even their staunchest supporters will refuse to purchase the product.

I could list out all the issues with the "XBONE" but such information is easily available all over the internet. Besides that's not the real issue. Yes the functions of the Xbox One are clearly infuriating and restricting, not to mention invasive, but its actually the attitude of Microsoft. After they revealed the console, the reaction from the denizens of the internet was instantaneous and furious.

The punch line? Microsoft honestly didn't have a clue why everyone was mad? They'd become so egotistical that they thought that everything they were doing was for the betterment of the users, without regard (or a clue) to what the users actually want. In essence, they got a bit too big for their boots and are now paying the price. Even the government has stepped in and told Microsoft "No, you can't do that." THE GOVERNMENT. You know you've screwed up when the national government needs to step in to tell you you dun goofed.
