I don't remember this guy's name but he was always laughing and fooling around. At first I hated him because he was SO RUDE ALL THE TIME AND SO ANNOYING but as the movie progressed I found myself loving him more and more.
Unfortunately, I fell asleep during the MOST CLIMACTIC PART OF THE ENTIRE MOVIE and missed THE WHOLE DANG ENDING BATTLE. Actually not really, I got to see a lot of the last battle, but I'm pretty sure I missed the last fifteen minutes. From what I saw though, it was super awesome! I really enjoyed not only the plot, but the way it was shot as well. Kurosawa didn't slack at all capturing those interesting angles and using the lighting and background to his advantage! I've noticed that he always seems to have white flowers in a lot of the films he's made. I mean, the children are an obvious common theme, but the flowers are more subtle, I think. I wonder what it means or represents.
Anyways, I found this to be a purely delightful film, and I was kind of glad for the length of the movie because it allowed so much room for details and character development while also unraveling a bunch of sub plots within the overall plot. It's long as heck, but you should definitely go watch it!
