Art is not a thing; it is a way. It is a way of feeling, a way of thinking, and it is a way of living. We could say that everything can be called a piece of art. We, humans, are God’s masterpiece. However if we were treated like earthly masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa, we would be hanging in the Louvre behind velvet ropes. We would be impossible to move.
Even the most unimportant things in life have art. This reminds me of the time I went to Greece. It was around one o’clock in the afternoon and we were walking to the Acropolis with a temperature of 40˚c. It felt as if I was entering hell. For a moment, I was paying more attention to the temperature rather than to the Acropolis. Can you imagine? I was standing right where many ancient civilizations started and I couldn’t care less. After a while, I snapped back to reality and realized that I had the most wonderful pieces of art in front of me. I don’t know if the sun was making me dizzy but somehow I even started seeing art in the nature. The sun and the sculptures were working together to create some sort of a ground mural with shadows. Art is a way of seeing things differently. Art is a way if seeing things (like shadows) that are invisible to others. Every insignificant thing has art.
