Anyways! Fullmetal Alchemist! :D (I'm going be discussing the original series, sorry Brotherhood fans)
Fullmetal Alchemist is about Ed Elric and his brother Alphonse, who lost their mother to a disease and wanted to use alchemy to bring her back. Which is also called the Great Taboo.
Alchemy in this show is not just turning straw into gold it is, as said in the show "the comprehension, deconstruction and reconstruction to get a new shape." So Ed and Al get the basic ingredients of a human body and try to bring their late mother back to life but it backfires due to equivalent exchange. During the transmutaion Ed loses his leg and Alphonse loses his entire body. Ed sacrifices his right arm to attach his brothers soul to a suit of armor that there father had in his study room. Ed ended up getting metal prosthetic limbs.
Now the brothers join the military as state alchemists in search of the Philosophers stone, which doesn't follow the principle of equivalent exchange, to get their bodies back to normal.
The show brings up an excellent point... what is the cost of a human soul?
The human bodies ingredients can all be bought on a child's allowance but what does it take to make a soul?
