Perfection

Ever since I was a child I have known that the ultimate goal in this life is to reach perfection even though such thing does not exist. We often spend too much time looking for something that is not there. I found a short film directed and produced by Karen Lin. The video relates the story of a young girl that has the pressure to become perfect. Throughout the video we can see images of her journey to perfection while growing up. When she is finally a grown woman she realizes that her life went by while she was busy looking for perfection. The urge to become perfect was imposed to her by her mother. Because she was exceptional in everything she did she appeared to have a perfect life. She won medals, trophies and she earned her degree at college. When she starts feeling tired she realizes that her time is running out. She has spent so much time working on her skills and on her body that she left no time for herself. She is not married. When her time finally runs out she feels awful because the only things she has left are her medals and trophies. At the end of the video she rewinds and pause the timer. The timer in a video is metaphor to life. Life passes by while we are busy looking for perfection when perfection is something impossible to achieve.
