On Set

When I went to LA over the summer, I had the opportunity to tour Warner Brothers Studios. I went on a Sunday, so we could pretty much go wherever because no one was filming. The tour guide took us inside of the Two and a Half Men and Pretty Little Liars’ sound stages. I thought it was really cool to see all the sets and see where the studio audience would normally be. It was interesting to see the differences between a Drama TV set and a sitcom. It was also interesting to see the differences between television and film. When I first thought about majoring in film production, I only considered and been taught about doing movies. After being in some of the sound stages and learning more about being on set of a TV show, I think TV would be really amazing as well. So, I was on YouTube and on the home page under “popular videos on YouTube” there was a Big Bang Theory video about a live show taping and I ended up watching it. The video takes you behind the scenes of the show to see how everything is done. I think it’s really fascinating to see the differences between filming a television show and filming a movie.
