I guess they finally put up the firewalls to censor the resnet internet today because I found out they blocked Tumblr. I don't even tumbl, and sure, it has good intentions of protecting us from porn or whatever (even though like 90% of the internet is pornographic anyways), but if that were the case they'd block DeviantArt as well, at which point I'd just transfer schools because then this would be an unsuitable place for an an artist to educate themselves. In petty protest, I'm going to blog about one of my favorite songs that just so happens to be obscene, which I found on YouTube. By the way, in case no one knew, inappropriate content can be found there as well. Surprise, right? Haha no.
Putting my petty rebellion aside, this is actually a hilarious song written by a comedic musician who makes fun of just about anything and everything. It's become the theme song for my best friend, who, quite frankly, doesn't give two effs about what you think about him. I enjoy this tune because it not only reminds me of him, but pokes fun at redemption and self assessment and realization, and how people sometimes just take things too seriously. When I first heard this song, I was slightly offended by the initial two verses, but as it progressed and got more and more ridiculous, I grew to love it. By the end I'm laughing my head off from the turnout of events, but the tone of the song changes and the singer becomes reflective, thinking whether or not there are really assholes all around him, or if he's the one to blame for being so dang angry all the time. I expected a nice and hilarious song of redemption, but then it takes a ridiculous turn and he goes to blame yet someone else for his problems. I dunno, I enjoyed it and I think it's a good reminder to loosen up about things (and here I am writing a blog about how upset I am at the blocked internet).
How I feel about internet censorship BUT WAIT IT'S BLOCKED WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED. It's like SOPA all up in here. Someone call the pope!
I have a tumblr account and all I do is post up art and reblog "clean" stuff so I was a upset when I found out that they blocked tumblr. At first I was really upset but then I realized that some people need that censorship that the technology service provides. But then again, one could argue that we are all adults (maybe not all mature adults but that is another story). I don't know, I think it is kind of ridiculous to block tumblr but that is my opinion.
I totally agree with you! Censorship is up to the individual, and I don't think having Tumblr blocked is going to prevent us from looking up inappropriate content, especially because said content mostly comes from DeviantArt, and they don't have that blocked P: I think someone might start a petition to get it unblocked sometime soon
